I thought I'd see if the cake could be removed convincingly, I spent no more than 20 minutes on this one, I don't claim it's perfect, but to me it is credible.

With more time and care spent with the clone stamp tool, it could be virtually seamless IMO. ... Jack

Jack - Well done. I wanted to make the cake disappear too, but was daunted at the task of extending the groom's sleeve. Covering the cake with something a bit less gaudy was a compromise. Maybe covering it with something darker & with less colour would have worked? Herb

Thanks Herb, I've got to admit it came out better than anticipated, and would take considerably more time to improve (at least for me).

Looking at the original shots depth of field ... I suspect it was shot with a P&S, if it was shot with a DSLR then it must have been at very small aperture.

If it had been shot with a DSLR + a wide angle lens + wide aperture, then none of the editing would be necessary just the happy couple would be in sharp focus, the background and adjacent objects would be defocussed sufficiently to ignore them. This is virtually impossible with a P&S because of the much smaller sensor. ... Jack.
