Is this any help? I used both Photomatix and Photoshop on it.

At a certain point when it is lightened the dark areas show lots of noise. Thats why I suggested a larger size to work from. The problems with this image is more than just underexposure. Color correction is needed as well.

Thank you for your efforts. The photo was taken on a point and shoot and the flash didn't fire. I didn't know this until later. I have posted a larger version. I hope it will be large enough. John.

Here's my take ... Lighten + some colour correction + a little noise filtering, as already said better results with higher resolution to play with. ... Jack
