here you go...

all i did was a couple layers of good ole' high pass sharpening, with layermasks...

and a blurred level, masked to show only the rusted metal blurred...

one high pass sharpened layer was only the eyes...the other only the cat....

then the last was after i resized...to resharpen the face...

that's all...

I took a slightly different approach. I blured the background using my soft focus technique and removed this soft focus from the cat's face. I then applyed a unsharp mask to the cat to sharpen that up a bit more.

wow wonderful results in sharpening. i have tried several ways but always get a too harsh image, yours are great!

I had a go to. :lol:
I had to resize them to keep them under 250k. I was geting some wild purple fringing so turned it b&w. Here are both.

This is what I got after fiddling with light effects ( texture channel included ), selections, radial gradients, and some burn tool brushstrokes.

I don't know if you will look at this cat in the same way after this one :-)
