Hi folk,

Herewith anAFTER makeover ofabread roll pic (see below), followed by the original pic (seefurther below).

I really want to improve my editing.... In the 'after' one I've tried to add depth to the rolls by brushing in shadows, but to me they look very false. The colour change is also a bit scary. Does anyone have any tips on how I could have done this better? Canna.

P.S. and of course anyone else can have a go...

Hi Aladyforty,

Thanks so much for doing the above....it's much appreciated.:-)

I still think the worked on bread looks like one of those odd colour pix you see in 1970s cook books (totally my fault.) I like the effects you've done on the second one!

Hi, I added just a little 'burn' tool...to the left sidesof everythingto try to reduce the effect of the two light sources and bring it closer to the light coming just from the upper right on the diagonal- not too sure I improved itat all though.

Your pic did not need much fixing really, it is very tempting to add too rich a color cast to the bread. I fixed with curves a little levels and then to remove the missing table I wanted to frame this and the pattern on the wooden plate influenced me.

Hi guys,

Bjane -your effort is 100% what I was trying to achieve, but didn't - a sense of roundedness, but with subtlety.

What you say about the single light source (at an angle) was excellent - makes a huge diffs., and working with that idea, withthe burning in, has really done it.It was veryhelpful to see. In fact a pal of mine got upgraded over Christmas to Photoshop CS, so has given meher PhotoshopElements. I see it has a burn tool (hooray hooray). I will practice doing your version.

Creeduk.

Loved your pic. What a brilliantlycreative approach... .... . Personally I'm not quite there yet with levels or curves, but have started playing around with them. Yes, I think what you say about colouring is very true! Thanks for thefab pic. Much enjoyed.

H-m-m-m-m-m-m-m. I think Mr B's Scotty dogsbouncing round the rolls might have been a bit more delish, but thanks for thedecoration!

abw, Canna

This shot looks good but I would have left out that cloned roll in the middle. Other than that I don't know what more you could do to it to improve it.
