Tip if the original needs extra attention can be scan at double the resolution and then very slightly blur now down size back to 50 % and unsharpen mask.

oh, sorry bout that

i was just saying, when printing, you want the highest resolution, so it will look detailed in print
so 8x10 at 300dpi (dots per inch) is a lot more resolution than your shot here...

i have a program (genuine fractals) that 'interpolates' (upsizes) the shot and fills in the needed pixels...

hope this makes sense..
basically, it would be making the image bigger, so it will print better quality

oh btw, forgot to mention..in my edit, i also blurred the clouds, to get rid of noise, i masked some of the clouds though, because they needed to be sharp

Nice shot - I love the brooding atmosphere under the cloud. Some noise reduction, dust removal, colour and contrast balancing and sharpening here.

Here's my stab at it.. I took a slightly different approach.. Instead of getting rid of the red band (as I see it), use it.. Added some Lens flare to try and justify it being there. Autolevels, sharpen, Saturate the blue a little bit, followed by unsharp mask. Oh yes, before any of that, NeatImage.. On my screen it kind of looks like a fujichrome. The one shown is for online viewing, I can send the 1.4meg file if you wish. Just let me know where.

Hi Vito,

Thanks so much for answering my questions. And yes, your helpful info on scanning made a lot of sense and Genuine Fractals sounds like a handy li'l program to have! I really appreciate all your help! :-)

Oh, I'm going to post my version of the edit....it took some trial and error....and about 4 hours! LOL
