The best for smoothly taking out the red band is Vito's, but geez, overall, I give Fenlander and Norm Jackson the nods for favorite; great 3d shading, detail really "pops," and the color of the trees appear most natural (to me).

Y'all did great work, though. Come to think of it, I've got some shots that could use some rehashing . . .

Here's a more summery, less broody version; though maybe colours getting a bit lurid.

Re. red band, FWIW I took a copy of red channel and put in layer over green channel copy and erased parts of red layer where wanted darker. This can work quite well for correcting bad colour fringing caused by "haloes" (most often in blue channel). Wonder what techniques others used; selection of area followed by adjustments; cloning...?

Go on then Norm, give usall one of your pictures to have a go at rehashing...

Thanks...we have some really beautiful scenery here in B.C. Sis has asked me to do some more photos but it's going to have to wait a bit as I've caught some type of virus.

Nice job Norm! Thanks so much for taking the time to look at it and offer us your version. I'm new to photoshop and have been reading about working with channels. It sounds quite interesting!
Edited for not answering quote...LOL...forgive me as I'm not feeling too with it today due to catching virus. Nope, she didn't climb the mountain...she gets more than enough exercise working in a sawmill....LOL :-)
