Second attempt I thought there was too much makeup in the first.

Being female I find that a lot of photo touch ups by men seem to turn women into a cross between dutch dolls and a computer game avatar.

I personally prefer the most subtle correction possible. Particularly when the subject is young and has good, fresh skin anyway (bar a few blemishes).

So this is all I would fix: removing some blemishes in the same way that I would use concealer (using the Clone tool not the spot remover), reducing shadow under the eyes (again just as a woman would do with make-up, using Touche Eclat or similar) and remove the red-eye. I wouldn't use heavy pan-stick style foundation in real life unless I was performing in the theatre, so likewise I avoid giving a photo an airbrushed affect.
