Picture of my wife on the left - about 1947, and me on the right - about 1944. We both grew up in small towns in Louisiana about 200 miles apart and met in 1963. Only recently did we find these photos. Wonder if anyone has any thoughts about restoring them. I have only an old version of PSE and haven't had any success at restoring or colorizing.

Alady could you drop your color layer on this version, I used various algorithms such as Fourier transform to remove the pattern created by the photo paper. I have done no other repair work to it.

Came out well. FFT is great with scans like this, a better scan gives a more defined pattern and is easier to remove. It takes some getting used to but is about the only real option with this kind of issue. I have heard that a new noise reduction filter in PSP X is supposed to be able to get rid of patterned noise, I have not had an oppertunity to look at that.

Thanks both of you for your efforts. As I mentioned, all I have right now is an old version of PSE (1) and am looking to up grade. I'm considering PSP X instead of PSE 4.

Again, I appreciate what you were able to do.

George
