I was practicing in my backyard when i thought I;d take a pic of a dead leaf in my tree as it stood out quite a bit. Well when i focuse din on it I saw that it was a huge moth.Kinda cool. the original photo was kind of washed out so I edited it myself in PS and then I let Photodeluxe do an instant edit on the original. Came out much darker but richer. Which of the two is a better fix in everyones opinion?

My fix on left, software instant fix on right

Hi, Prefer the more contrasty second one, done with phot deluxe ( perhaps boost saturation a little) ... first is somewhat flat. IMO though I'd expect to get a better result in PS, rather than go with auto correct. Just my 2 cents worth. ... Jack.

I think we're on the same page. I like the one on the right better.

Well, I prefer the one on the right, but which was closer to the real thing? You can improve a picture to where it looks unreal. I some time perfer the natural look over enhanced to give a more "I was there" feeling.

The one on the right appears initially more visually pleasing because of the contrast but on further inspection I find the left is far superior. The right one loses detail in the shadow and the over saturation of color. The shadows on the left are far more subtle and soft and make for a better overall image. (just my opinion of course)

I prefer the left. The right is way overdone with the contrast. The branches are almost black. It doesn't look natural to me. You've lost the color in the branches, and in the sky. The right is a better crop though.

Better might be something a bit in between the two, but closer to the left. The softer tone curve is more natural and plesing to my eye, and I think it suits the subject.
