The point of the shorties is that they can be used in rapid water. You can run them up on rocks and get free by shifting wieght or twisting and make very sharp turns. They have very flat, thick bottoms to avoid holes and make sliding off things easy. They will run these in very fast, very rocky rivers as well as over drops (small waterfalls) that would destroy conventional kayaks.
