If you are saying it is $700 difference, I think you are referring to 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS II USM Lens - is that correct? If yes, it is a magnificent lens ... if budget permited, I would buy 70-200 f/2.8L IS II even though I'd loose the additional 200mm in the bargain.

Small question ... if I shoot at f/4.5 or higher (with 70-200 f/2.8 lens) wouldn't I be able to get the required DOF or match the DOF of 100-400L?
