Hi Geoffs, thanks for the comments, the camera I use is a Panasonic FZ10, which has a 12 optical zoom [equal to 420mm], with f2.8 throughout the range, so that is a huge advantage in getting "close up" to one's subject. Also the animals and birds in the Kruger park are not really threatened by humans and they haven't learnt to be fearful of man [relatively speaking], so also getting close to them is a lot easier
