<William Carp, Technical Representative with Olympus America> We feel the opportunity for an error while upgrading firmware is too great and we would prefer the camera be serviced by the Olympus repair dept. This way we can control the environment in which a camera is upgraded and assure that it gets done right without harm to the camera.
And since they are so concerned with the customer's satisfaction that the job is done right, they do it for free, right?

How about a disclaimer that the customer would have to agree to before downloading the upgrade? That's what NVidia and most any computer product does.

I don't like the idea that Olympus (or any other company) thinks we are all such bumbling idiots that we couldn't possibly follow simple directions. I don't want my camera being shipped and kicked around any more than it needs to be, and I don't want to go without for any time.
