If I am to start again, I would go for the body K100D and FA50mm 1.4. The total is around US$800. Absolutely low light and a great walkaround combo. This set up is to allow expansion (in lens) and the quality is comparable to the best equipment in the market now.
I am sure Fuji 6500 is a great camera. But like any consumer electronics, price drops like a rock . Lens hardly drop in price and in some case it can appreciate in value.
That is my input.
