Good photos -- I like them.
When shooting JPG (which for me is 90% of the time) I keep my DS2 set at +1 Sharpness and -1 Contrast. I also often use +0.7 exposure compensation, because my camera exposes like yours seems to...slightly dark in high contrast situations, to prevent blowing highlights.
If you shoot JPG in a situation like this again, you might experiment with -1 or -2 Contrast. (Or, shoot RAW and try different contrast in your RAW converter).
Thanks for sharing! Is the lighthouse in service? It might make a great photo in the evening with its light on.
