I like the b&w version better because I find the green grass on top distracting. I'm not sure what the best answer would be, but I'd probably try cropping closer (may or may not work), blurring the grass in the b&w one or something like that. I might also make the contrast between the tiger and the background a bit more (tiger darker, with less detail in him), since what caught your eye was the silouette look. On my good monitor it wasn't totally clear to me that's what you were "seeing" while on another monitor that isn't as good for shadows, I can see the interesting shape. Like anything I say about pictures, take it as an opinion, and a not very educated one at that!
