Dear Experts: Would I be needing a close-up filter if I were to take pictures of a small bowl of soup or a cup ofcoffee on plain white background? I'm using fujifilm S5500. If I do, which? and when people put on close-up filters, do they have to switch on the macro as well? thanks...

Check the specifications of your camera in the manual. I dont know about the 5500, but if it is similar to the Fuji 5100, setting macro at the wide angle zoom, will focus from 0.3 to 6.6 feet.

I doubt if you'll need any close up lenses for your purpose. The camera will handle it.

Me too, I don't think it's necessary in your example. Macro and close up filter are for relatively close pics.

Kcan, just got my Fuji 5500. Was disappointed with the marco shots. Bot it for ebay listing shots. My wife owns a chocolate & brownies store in India - ChocoInn. Had a Sony DSC - S70 earlier. Not much of any improvement except the night / indoor shot mode.

Don't be upset tb. Buy macro and you'll solve the problem

s5100, haze, 2x macro with coupling ring "0" zoom

s5500 and s5100 are the same
