I just purchased a UV filter to protect my 70-200 F/2.8 VR zoom and nowthe lens capdoes not fit.I bought a size 77.0 sand it fit prefectly fine on the lens. Is there a solution to this? Do they make a filter that allows the lens cap to fit? I am going back to the camera shop tomorrow. I don't want to look too stupid.

Happy New Year,

Nadia

Hmmmm...never heard of this, Nadia.

If your UV filter has same threads as your lens, it should fit...

Yes, a return to camera shop is in order.

For that lens, they should give you, if needed, another lens cap :-)

I know that B+W makes a line of 'ultra thin' filters that don't have front threads, which would prevent some lens caps from fitting. If this is your problem and you don't need a thin filter to prevent vignetting (and with a 70mm lens this shouldn't be a problem) , do as digcanfan suggests and return it for a different filter or at least get adifferent lens cap.

Thank you Digcamfan and Jawz,

I went back to Adray and the gentleman looked at me somewhat confusedand said lets try it. Well the Hoya did not allow the Nikon lens cap to fit. He was a little shocked. He did not have any UV Nikon filters so he sold me a Tiffen filer. I was not trilled but he stated it is just for protection. I do have a polarizer filter for outside shooting. So I think I will be okay. The Tiffen UV Haze filer did allow the Nikon lens cover to fit.

All is well and a Happy New Year to all,

Nadia
