Add on lens's optical view obstructed - advice?

I just added a telephoto lens to my DX3900 (Kodak), but was sadly disappointed to realize that I can't see (other than digital view) the image about to be shot!! I wish there was an add-on attachment like a mini-periscope that would "peer around" the attached wider lens. ANY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR HOW TO HANDLE THIS PROBLEM? THANKS..

Mini Periscope .... hmmm

Actually, what you have discovered is quite common, and fortunately there is a solution.

What you need is a combination loupe/sunshade. The best one I've ever used is called the Xtend-a-View and it's made and distributed by PhotoSolve. If you are in the U.S., you can order one from: http://www.photosolve.com

If you are in Europe or the U.K, you can order the same from: http://www.eagleeyeuk.com

The Xtend-a-View lets you use the LCD just as you would a viewfinder. It magnifies 2x, but that's necessary to allow you to focus your eyes at the short distance of about 2.5 inches. I use these devices with all my 17 digicams - don't leave home without one!

Best regards,

Lin
