PLEASE HELP!!! I was told that you can interchange any brand of lens on the canon rebel xt, you don't have to use just canon lenses. Then I was told that you can only use canon lenses, no others. I bought my husband a 35 mm Minolta Maxxum 300 SI with several lenses. He wants to get a digital camera that will use the extra lenses I bought. What do I do besides buy a digital Minolta? He likes the rebel but I don't want to lose the money I've invested. Can the lenses be interchanged or not between brand names and 35mm vs. digital? I was also told that you would only lose 1 megapixel with a different brand which would be ok with me. Any help would be appreciated:?

Hi sharebear70,
Yes and No. You can use other brand name of lenses on the same camera body only if they are of matching mounts. So Canon use canon mount (aka. EF-mount) lenses and Minolta use minolta mount (aka. A-mount) lenses.By far there isn't a workable way toattach the minolta lenses to canon. In order to save the investment you only have choice to take a Minolta Dynax 7D or Minolta Dynax 5D. Both of them are equally greatdigital camera bodies as rebel Xt and what's morethey have anti-shake function built-in toallow steady photos in moderately low light situations. If the preference on rebel xt is pricewise I wonder Minolta Dynax 5D is about the same price range and a good alternative given that you already have a couple of Minolta lenses.
