I'm thinking of buying a set of close up lenses to attache to my Nikon 18-55 mm kit lens. The set consists of # 0, #1 and # 2 Tiffen lenses. Has anybody used this kind of set up. The set is relatively inexpensive ($45 for the set) but returning stuff is such a hassle if it doesn't work out. It also appears that Nikon has discontinued this item.

Ever heard of the Subway? :-)

You have a luxury that most of us don't. Take advantage of it!

Take your camera, go into the City, walk into a good camera store, and try out the close up lenses while you're there and before you buy them.

If they won't let you try them before you buy them, buy a set, open the package, and try them out before you walk away from the register. If you don't like them, return them then and there. I guarantee thatthey'll let you try the next set before you buy them. BE A @#$% NEW YORKER!!! [suB]:-)[/suB]

There are a number of companies that make good stuff, and a number of companies that make garbage. I would count Tiffen among the former.
