Searching for some info on filter brand names or what characteristics to look for in a filter (polarizer, uv) for an olympus c-2100 that I currently am awaiting delivery for.....mostly outdoor pics

Brand is always controversial. I'm happy with Hoya HMC. Seems to be reasonable quality at a reasonable price. I don't think you'll tell any difference with that camera if you spend more and, if money is tight, you would probably be happy with something cheaper.
Most (but not all) folks agree that it's best to keep a filter on the camera at all times to protect the lens--normally a UV or Skylight. You'll probably want a polarizer and I think you'll need a circular polarizer with that camera. Save your money and don't buy any other filters until you've had some experience with the camera. Later filters to consider would be IR, Neutral Density, and Graduated. |

Thanks for the tip Jim, I was just searching around on ebay and came across a crysytal optics uv and a circular polarizer $25 or so I have also read about the recommendation to keep a uv filter on for protection of the lens
