Is there such a thing as a fisheye converter lens that works with the Canon A80? All I can find via google is the Nikon FC-E8 which has a 28mm thread and would cover up a lot of the A80's lens? Is there a similar product with a larger thread size?

Raynox has fish-eye lenses I don't know what the quality of these lenses are.

I will suggest checking the Raynox HD3030pro semi-fisheye which I am now using. It is 37mm native thread and provided in-the-box a set of different sizes of plastic stepping rings fit for nikon cameras (unfortunately it does not have 52mm -> 37mm ring).
The rear glass element of HD3030pro fills exactly the 37mm diameter. It is very sharp and takes photos with very good details. Although it is not as wide as FC-E8/E9 (of .024x) it is already 0.3x - 0.35x. And most importantly it is cheap!! On A80 this 0.3x brings focal length down to 11mm. You can get a 52->37mm step down ring easily. When attached to A80, there is NO vignetting at all. In fact I even tried to tune the edge sharpness with several 37mm filter rings stacked up and vignetting only appear when 2 more filter rings is used. Here's one of the photos I shoot the day I bought the semi-fisheye, the edge is not sharp enough yet. I can take and post some better photos with tuned combo if you want. ![]() |
