I am considering buying a wide angle and telephoto lense for my fuji 3800 and need to know if I have to buy the specific fuji lenses or are there cheaper alternatives. Also do I need uv/ polarising lenses etc. What are these lenses used for?

Opteka makes an afordable lense for the 3800, i found them pair on ebay for less than $100 including the adapter ring. Not sure how good they are im still debating the purchase. But i think its a good place to start

Newegg.com lists a Fuji brand wide angle and telephoto lens for the 3800. I would like to know if these are better than the Kenko & Opteka...
