Hi all,

I have recently purchased a Fuji S5600 as my first 'proper' camera as an entry into more serious snapping! I photograph a lot of wildlife so I'd like to purchase a telephoto lens, can anyone advise on a brand that will give decent performance for the amateur user? My budget is low, especially having just purchased the camera itself.

I have seen these on ebay...

...and although I understand you get what you pay for, I have also been told that Tokina aren't too bad. What do we think? Has anyone used these lenses with good results?

Thanks very much.

I bought the Tokina x3 tcon when I first bought my Sony H1.

The Tokina is terrible, waste of money as a tcon, quite useful as a paperweight though..

A Raynox may be a reasonable compromise for you, not the best, but certainly better that the Tokina.

i woud not go with a 3x tele converter lens at all. as nice as it might sound on paper in real life with such magnification you will lose alot of detail unless the lens is extremely good quality, which in return will be very expensive too.. i would say if you want to get something cheap and still maintain a decent image quality try 2x lenses instead of 3x or bite the bullet and get a very expensive 3x lens like panasonic should have something like that. or another option is stack lenses of 1.7x tcon's or 2x's which will give you the best results if you are using good quality lenses.
