I just got a great Nikon 70-210 F4 AF zoom lens and had a question to those who have the same lens. My lens seems to have a little more noise from the AF mechanism than what I am used to. It's like it's not lubricated. Creating a plastic on plastic kind offriction noise when adjustments are made. Looking through the lens with a body, it focuses great. Is this common for this lens, or does it sound like it requires some work?

It's quite normal for some of the (excuse me!) "cheaper" Nikon lenses to make AF noise. The newest Nikon lenses has a built-in (SWM) motor, that is soooo silent (and FAST). But you have to pay!
