I have the FZ20.With the TCON 14B on,Do you have to use maximum zoom all the time?

no. you can mount the TCON-14B and still use the normal zoom range. but since most people wouldn't bother hanging a lens that weighs more than the FZ20 on the camera unless they really need the extra "reach", as a practical matter you probably would use pretty high zoom settings anyway, but you don't have to.

if you're really steady, i don't see why not. i prefer to use a monopod, becausethe TCON-14B weighs a bit over a pound all by itself... it's a lot of glass... and it definitely makes the camera very lens-heavy.i find the monopod helps, although at shutter speeds above 1/500, with OIS on, you'd probably be okay. i assume you have a Phayee or similar adapter?
