Anyone tried thease lenses at all seen them on e-bay, loads of poor comments about service but not sure what the quality is like.

I allready have som cheap diopters wanted something for more macro work.

See the posts on cheap homemade macro lens, above. I use various magnifiers in front of my Dimage Xi, for different magnifications. Works a treat.:-)

Good macro lenses have better corrected chromatic and spherical aberrations. A cheap one-element lens will tend to create soft corners. A good test of a macro lens is to shoot a small flat object with a lot of tiny details (a postal stamp, for example, or a currency bill). You'll immediately see how good your setup is.
