Has anybody used this telephoto lens and if so, what do you think of it? Also I have a Coolpix 5700 with a UR-E8 adaptor, what kind of adaptor ring would I need to make this combo work?
TIA |

The DCR-1850Pro is NOT designed to work with a Nikon 5700. On the Raynox website they state the following:
"DCR-1850PRO lens is designed for use with 6X or less zoom capability lenses and it can not be used with 7X or higher zoom lens incorporated digital still cameras or camcorders." Since the 5700 has an 8x zoom range I suggest you not go there. Give consideration to the new Raynox DCR-2020PRO 2.2x, but order one fast as they appear to be in short supply. |

DUH!! I didn't see that as I was looking the first time:?
So what about the Olympus B300 compared to the TCON-17? |

I don't believe the B-300 is made any more as the TCON17 was suppose to have been it's replacement. The 300 was generally rated as a ‘Very Good' performer, sharp with good light retention. In my notes I have mention that "if used with 55mm filters you will get vignetting at the wide end of the zoom". I therefore assume that it does have from filter threads. If you are going to use the lens for it's intended purpose as a telephoto lens than the vignetting issue shouldn't be a concern. To attach a B-300 to the Nikon UR-E8 you will need a 55mm thread adaptor from Bernie's NextPhoto - http://www.nextphoto.net/
To see example photos go to: http://www.pbase.com/cameras/olympus/b300 The TCON17 would use the same adapter from Bernie's as the B-300. It's considered on the heavy side by some users at 9.2oz and was rated as ‘Good'. It does not have front filter threads. For a comparison of the two lens see: http://kazutoku.cside.com/TCON-17-2/ and visit CK's website at http://www.cs.mtu.edu/~shene/DigiCam/RIGHT-index.html |

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. Is there any reputable site that does a side by side comparison of the telephoto converters? If it included other converters that would be cool

Challenger - I just stumbled across this site which is full of 'user opinions' on various lens. May be of help.

Head to the Raynox Nikon 5700 page, http://www.raynox.co.jp/english/digital/egnikon5700.htm and at the top they feature the new DCR-2020Pro which is a 2.2x.
