i have searched the www about slide copiers and duplicators for the olympus c-750 ultra zoom 4mp camera
I see the coolpix attachment which looks like something I could make. has anyone tried this? what are your reccomendations and what kind of results can I expect. I cannot afford a dedicated film scanner. [email protected] ( doesn't matter-- i get all the spam anyway!!) |

I bought a digital slide copier on Ebay for my C700 and C770. It cost about $65. Works like a charm . I copied about 700 slides in 4 afternoons. results were great; much faster than my Epson scanner. Used picasa2 to do the editing. Put them on a CD, and loked at the slides on the TV.

It's called an "Ohnar Digital Duplicator", but I saw one called I believe Bower. It screws into the front of your digital camera, has n opaque glass, a +10 closeup lens and a slide carrier that holds 2 slides. You can find them in EBay under slide copier or duplicator.

I was looking to do the same thing you are. Get the family slides to a digital format to preserve them. Here's what I did:
I borrowed a light table from work, taped two wooden strips to the table to act as a guide for the slides, and then positioned my tripod directly over the table. It was an extremely cheap solution to getting thousands of slides into the computer. The one note of caution is that you might have to dim the light a little bit, as my first attempt saw a lot of chromatic aberrations (blue halos in high contrast areas) in the slides. Dimming the light certainly minimized that, if not solved it entirely inmost cases. |
