Hi guys,
I'm in the UK and havea Minolta Dimage 7i and am looking at adding eithera TCON-14 (£45) or a TCON-17 (£65). Is the 17 worth the extra £20? How do the two lenses compare? Are there any differences, apart from the extra zoom? Cheers, Jed. Edit - just noticed the 14 is £50 including P&P ... so the difference is now only £15. Loks like the 17 is the better buy, but I'd like someone to confirm that it's a good lense... |

Hi Jed, I use the TCON 17 with my Dimage A2 and with the camera lens at 200mm + the tcon i get slight vignetting in all four corners, but certainly nothing that can't be gotten rid of very easily during PP. Of course, this is how it should be used and if you are not zoomed to the long end then it looks like you are shooting in a tunnel, actually a nice fun effect for the odd photo!! Yes i'm very pleased with it and Olympus know how to make lenses.
I did consider the Minolta ACT-100 (1.5X) but was put off by the price (double the tcon) and the weight ( twice the weight of the tcon and nearly as heavy as my camera !!) I say go for it. Regards Stevekin |

Thanks for your reply ... I bit the bullet and ordered the 17 last night from Amazon (£65 inc p&P) - pretty good price. Just got to get a step up adapter now and I'll be sorted.

That's where i got mine a few months ago, same price.
You will need a 49mm to 55mm step up ring, bought mine from Jessops £3.99 http://www.jessops.com/search/viewpr...;WORD_SEARCH=Y& This is what it looks like on mine. ![]() |

Sorry to offend your sense of taste TC3, and to show no hard feelings, I think you have a very pretty camera.
