My choices are Sony VCL-DH1758 / Raynox DCR-1540PRO or Canon TC-DC58B. Any recommendations, I am looking for best image quality.

i would get the canon one thats made just for the camera. its a little more expensive than some of the other ones you can find but you get what you pay for. i have a canon s2 also and i decided to get a cheaper telephoto lens off ebay big mistake. i couldnt get a decent looking shot no matter what i did. i dont know what adapter ring you have but i have the black canon one but on my telephoto lens nothing could save the images i might as well have just thrown my money away. i dont know about the other ones you listed, because i have never used them but from now on im keeping the brands together, i even spent a little more (more like a lot more)on the canon camera bag. although im getting a sigma lens for my rebel xt and i hope thats not a dissappointment.

Thanks,
I had a very low opinion of EBay from day 1 but after reading some of the stores about EBay on this forum I would just stay away. EBay = BYER BEWAIR ![]() Jeff |

It's not an eBay problem, its an S2 problem. (Though you do have to be diligent when using eBay.) I have an S1 and I bought a Canon TCon (but not the specific one for the S1) because it was on closeout at the local camera store (half price). It wouldn't focus and the pictures were horrible, so I had to return it. I wound up buying the specific one for the S1 and it works fine. I don't know the reason the S1 (and presumably the S2) is like this, but there's some optical reason I'm sure.
On Kodak (and probably others) people use the Olympus TCon with great results. On the Canon, you have to use the specific Canon TCon. Russ |
