Hi guys,
The best I've found are made by Olympus. The first is the TCON-17 which is essentially the old B-300 revisited. It's an excellent 1.7x tele converter with a 55mm thread on the ocular side which mates perfectly to the S602Z's tube adapter sold by Fuji. As for greater than 1.7x, the only one I've ever found which is worth buying is the Olympus TCON-300 (3x), but it's both expensive and inconvenient to use. The original price on this top quality lens was a bit over $600 U.S., but it can be found for around $450 if you shop around. Plan to spend at least another $100 having a custom mount fabricated. The TCON-300 was made for the Olympus E10/E20 and does not thread to the filter threads on your lens, but instead is held in extremely close proximity by a connecting brace which has a sole plate attached to the lens barrel itself and a thumb screw which fits into the tripod mount on the camera. On the bottom of the brace is a threaded tripod mount to replace the one taken by the camera mount. So to use this lens with any other camera, you must either build a mount yourself or have it done by a machine shop. To do it right requires an optical comparitor and some good machinest skills. The brace which comes with will only work on the E10/E20. The TCON-300 must be focused independently of the camera. You can "stack" the B-300 or TCON-17 with the TCON-300 for additional reach. I use it with my C2100UZ, E-100RS, DCS-F707 and S602Z along with my B-300 and sometimes with my TCON-14B (1.45x). Lin |
