-   -   Is it worth "upgrading" my Canon A30? (

I have an old Canon Powershot A30 that I like very much except for the following things:

1- Not enough resolution (obviously) and not enough zoom
2- Not enough of a dynamic range for lighting (ex: church interiors, narrow streets at noon, etc...)
3- Insufficient macro mode (I do a lot of hiking, so I like to photograph small flowers, insects and small animals, etc...)

I'm slowly trying to move from the "point and shoot" camp to the serious amateur camp, and I'll probably buy a better camera in about 6 months. In the meantime, I was thinking about getting the Canon adapter (~20$) and a few 52 mm filters (close-up, polarizer, others?) to help with #3 and #2 to some extent.

I figured it would help me extend the life of my camera (which I will keep for situations where it wouldn't be convenient or safe to bring an expensive camera: ex: canoe-camping, beach...) and that I could reuse the filters with a new model.

Does it make sense? Am I missing something important?
