I am a fairly new owner of a Canon 300D/Digi Rebel looking to buy a useful zoom lens for landscape and wildlife shots to supplement the standard 18-55mm lens.
I am considering the Canon EF 4.0 L 70-200mm which seems to be widely regarded as a great lens but not sure it will give me the length I need. I hike a lot so I'm also looking for something relatively light weight and compact - I've seen advertisements for a new Tamron 28-300 XR 'travelzoom' that appears to have received a EISA Award in 2002-2003. Does anybody have any information on the latter lens or can any one recommend another lens that might meet my requirements? Any help much appreciated. Cheers, Doug |

You might want to ask in the Canon DSLR lens forum. Someone there might have experience with the lens and maybe even used it with the DRebel.
