Hi,

So glad I stumbled over your site - just as I was about to purchase Digital Optics lenses off Ebay.

I own a Minolta Dimage 7 camera - it is my first camera & whilst I'm not yet ready to purcase an SLR, I would like to get more from my camera. I want to buy add on telephoto & wide angle lenses (49mm thread). Does anyone know whether:

a) this is possible
b) there are any particular lenses I should consider

Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks.

Minolta makes both a wide angle and a tele converter (or at least, they did).

Non Minolta brand wide angle lenses are likely to vignette. Do your research before buying one. I think there might have been one non Minolta that either did not vignette, or vignetted very little (the minolta lens did not).

The Minolta ACW and ACT lenses are made specifically for these cameras and work very well. The Olympus TCON in 1.5x and 3x also have been found to work with these cameras without vignetting at full zoom. Look for these from used dealers such as KEH and in the used equipment sections of major camera stores, as they are a bit expensive new.

Huge thanks for the advice.

The minolta lenses seem to be for the dimage 7i and 7hi - there is no mention of the 7. I believe they come with software which is essential to allow them to work with the other dimages -(i understand that it puts a menu option for the lenses in setup) does anyone know if it also works with the 7?

I have (actually had) a D7 and the Minolta wide angle lens and can confirm that it works with the D7. It is NOT zoom through. Not sure about the software.
