Default Len/s for canon SX1

I see advertised wide angle, macro, telephoto lenses for the Powershot Canon SX1, can anyone explain the benefits that these lenses may have for camera, thanks.

They give you more abilities form the built in lens. It will not be as good as a dictated lens for those function on a dslr. But it gives you the ability to do more with your lens. Generally theses lens screw onto you lens. They have been using add on lenses for scuba camera for a long time to give their fix lens more abilities to shot marco thing like nudies and stuff.

the sx1 has a good macro anyways, and a very long telephoto. so i doubt those would be a big priority (unless you want to do specialized super-macro)

the wide-angle could be useful if 28mm isnt wide enough, but it may vignette and will reduce image quality.

You have a very versatile camera as is. I personally think it best to explore all the capabilities of one's camera before adding on anything. After you've explored it's capabilities yo then can judge whether or not an add-on of any kind will give you a practical benefit.
