Default Tele compatibility with the canon pro 90 is?

I'm confused as to how to determine whether a tele-converter is a good match for the canon pro 90. a 58mm thread size is an obvious plus, but other than that I'm clueless. How do you figure out whether they're compatible? Any recommendations of a 2X or more lens for the pro 90?

You might want to consider the Olympus B-300 IS/L 1.5x teleconverter. It is a very good lens and I have tried it, people here recommended and the image quality is very good. (not sure where you would buy it as it is no longer in production), perhaps someone else could help.

Perhaps I could locate one on ebay. I'm not sure if 1.5X is enough, but if the image quality is really that good perhaps I could use two of them stacked?

One other question? When you're talking about poor image quality from most 2x add ons, is the image quality likely to be worse than using digital zoom? Without an add on lense I'd just have to use digital zoom.

Optical zoom is always better than digital zoom in my experience. If you use a 1.5x optical lens(Olympus B-300), the quality is better than 1.5x digital zoom.

In the Pro90. I found the 2x digital zoom acceptable but not the 4x but I rarely use these 2x/4x digital zooms if I want a crisp clean print outs or to make bigger prints like A4 size.

oops

Sorry - the B-300 is not 1.5x, it's 1.7x teleconverter - I've just opened my eyes after a long hard day at work

Also check Lin Evan's photo on this same forum about the F707 camera, you can see what the B-300 looks like, the end bit attached to the camera.

Default Add-on lens for the Pro 90

Have you looked at Canon's 1.7 tele-lens?(TC-DC58) I have one for my Pro 90 and it works well. I looked at those "cheapie" lens on E-Bay, and decided to go with Canon's quality. I bought it at B&H Photo for $109.

Default The B300 is good

I have tried a B300 with a Pro90. It gives very good results. The only slight problem I had was some chromatic abberation (purple fringing) of brightly lit objects. I think this is just magnifying the effect of the Canon lens. This is a common symptom of long zoom lenses on digital cameras. It is not too bad in this case and could probably be removed with a good photo package.

The following website have a few NEW B300s left - www.eagleeye.co.uk.
