Default

The Sigma is 2/3 stop faster throughout its zoom range.

Except at it's shortest focal length, the Sigma has less CA.

The Canon is a little sharper overall.

The Canon is less expensive, especially if you buy it with a body.

Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS (Tested)
Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8-4.5 DC OS HSM (Tested)

Default I am leaning toward the sigma

I have read multi reviews thanks for your referrals
I like the build quality
and the non external zooming of the sigma
I was looking at the white box usa ver of the canon at b&h but they are out of stock
I wish I could find more users in the forums
