40mm wouldnt make much of a difference especialy as were past 300mm

I bought had a 75-300mm & thought id buy 100-400mm cause i figured it would knock the socks off the 300. WRONG! Of corse i got rid of the 300 & kept the 400 but i wasnt inpressed with the range @ all

I tend to stick with the manufactures products as a rule when poss, but if its got gd reviews & more inportantly its cheaper! Why the hell not

When you say all the Dimages, does that include the Z1?

The lens is designed for the Dimage A2, which means it also fits the A1 and the 7 series. The firmware upgrade definitely wouldn't work for the Z1/2. I'd expect the convertor itself would work but might not be ideal. It'll be designed to fit a lens with a 49mm thread and I guess that's bigger than the Z1 (?). You might be better off with a slightly smaller (and much cheaper) convertor like an Olympus TCON-14 (which uses a 46mm thread).

Thanks.

I have read that some are using TCON-17 and it supposedly
works fine. Was just hoping the Minolta one would work also.

The olypmus tcon 1.7 & the b300 fit fine - they screw to the body like the ZCW which I have.

I notice there's a post about a new converter lens from Raynox (DCR-2020 Pro) which is 2.2X. I looked on their web site and this looks like a serious bit of kit. They list it as suitable for the 7/A1/A2 Minoltas with a step-up ring 49-52. Might be the one to get and it's cheaper than the Minolta 1.5X.
