We just got an FZ20 and would like to hook up our old B300 with it. The B300 has 49mm and 58mm threads, and worked wonders with my wife's Oly 2100. Is there any combination of stepdown rings, adapter tubes, etc that would enable us to try the B300 on the FZ20?

Thanks...

Pemeraal and Phaytee both have what you need in their inventory. I just ordered my Phaytee from jinfinance at ebay. The adapter tube was 29$ including shipping and the stepdown ring you need is another 7$. Search eBay for FZ20 and you can find his store.

I am curious about the same setup vs the TCON 17 I hope you post your results back here.

Thanks for the references. I checked them out and it looks good. As soon as we get the adapter we'll let you know how it works.

Hi Walter K,

Great to see you back on the forum! :-)

You may want to also review this thread...

I currently am test driving an FZ20 and trying to make my B300 work with it.

I have the 62 mm adapter and a 62-55 step down ring so can attach it to the FZ20.

Gonna try it tomorrow outside.

See the "Converter Lenses" section of my FZ-10 user guide. The FZ-10 and FZ-20 share the same set of lens accessories.

More on FZ20 and the B300.

Yes, after more investigation they will work together

Here was my setup on FZ20:

No conversion lens setting.

Center (spot) focusing.

IS set to 2.

Accessories:

Pemaraal 62mm adapter.

62-55 stepdown ring.

B300.

Note: You will need to power on then attach the B300. This is because the FZ20 does some sort of optics check upon startup and does not like to see a lens attached. You will see a message asking you to power down and power back up if you powerup fz20 with the lens on.

There was obvious and expected vignetting at wide angle.

There was no vignetting at full optical tele of 12x.

Also, I was able to shoot with tele in macro mode from about 8 feet away :-)

Hi, Digicam Fan:

Thanks for posting your shots. And thanks for the re-welcome! It's been a while since I posted on these forums. I went from the Coolpix cameras to a Canon D60, and now am using a 1D MkII. I've been shooting so much and printing stuff at large sizes, matting and framing them, that I have had little time to post on the forums. Mostly, I hang out at

www.robgalbraith.com

which is a professional and advanced amateur website for when I have a practical question. One of these days I'll prepare some of my more recent shots for posting on the web, and I'll link to some of them here.

My wife just moved up to the FZ20 from the Oly C2100, and is very happy with the change from 2 to 5 megapixels. If she composes for the full frame, I can use the new interpolation method in Photoshop CS to make a 13x17 or so from her files, with a little bit of Noise Ninja, and they look great. The Fz20 is a really neat little camera.

I must say that I was impressed with your shot with the B300, as I could not see any chromatic aberation. A touch of S curve from Curves would reclaim the little bit of lost contrast.

I'm gonna send for the same adapter you got. It seems to do just fine.
