Hi,

Have searched this site and haven't come up with an answer to this question. Which of these 2 lenses would produce less darkening on the sides-the technical term escapes me now:-?. But anyway I have the C210 and have to zoom out to at least 10x for all the darkening to disappear. I hate to assume but guess that the 160 would be able to "work" the low end of the optical zoom area. Would anyone know if that is true and what would the approximate zoom be.

TIA,

norma

oh yeah I have the panasonic fz3:|.

Vignetting.

Sorry, don't know the lenses in question, but you should always use a teleconverter lens with your camera setat the longest focal length anyway, to avoid as much as possible any vignetting.

Regards,

Stevekin.

Hi Norma,

I have the FZ-3 andc-160 and it has the same problem as the c-210. It is more the size of the rear element than the power of the lense.

I have a Canon TL55 (1.45x)and can use the zoom from about 3x on with it.

Also have an Olympus B-300 (1.7x)(old version of the TCON-17). I can use the zoom from about 6x on with it.

I like the TL55 best. It is about half the size and weight of the B-300 and gives the most usable zoom range. I bought mine from www.adorama.com

Hi Steve and Jim,

Thanks both for the info. Hopefully I will remember "vignetting" and how to spell it from now on:-). Cute little guy in the pic with you Steve.

Jim thanks for the info-just what I wanted to know. Pretty good for a first post:-).

Was hoping that the 160 or 180 might have less vignetting-can get them pretty cheap on ebay-oh well. I have heard good things about the Canon-so off to find a bargin.

Thanks again and Happy :|,
