I have a Sony W-7 + a TiFFEN .56xW/A lens. The photos are sharp at the center but blurry at the edges. Would reducing the length of the adapter help correct this problem? I could remove approx. .125" without damaging the adapter.

That blurring of edges might well be "feature" of that adapter.

Only high quality adapters don't degrade image quality in general. And then there's that for best quality adapter has to be designed for lens in question. (or other similar lens)

I do not think it is a feature. The adapter itself is about 1/8" longer than the Sony adapter. The three Sony add on lenses work very well on the W-7 and W-1 cameras. I have both. I think this design is a mistake on the part of TiFFEN? I should have known better. The "one size fits all" is something I typically stay away from. One person suggested I just crop out the edges? Not thinking very well on that...why have a W/A?

NOW THE TRUTH COMES OUT! I returned the lens to Tiffen who responded by telling me that the lens itseff was excellent but the adapter was NOT one that they manufacture and was the reason for the poor preformance. Evidently they had removed the adapter that they had sold with these lenses from the marketplace and no longer supported the Sony W cameras. WHAT A DECISION? What it means is that I am stuck with a rip-off! Thanks Tiffen! If we can not trust you can you expect future sales?
