Default Telephoto Lenses for Canon G3

Gidday all again,

What telephoto lense should i buy for the Canon G3.
Ive heard the original G3's is only 1.5x. not really enough.
Third party telephotos are 2.0x, 2.5x & 3.0x. (eg Vitacon).
Is 3.0x likely to cause distortion, (disreguarding camera
shake as will use tripod).
Is 2.0x the max i should go for.

What brand should i use. & does Sigma make lenses that i could use.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Jaz
I use a kenko knt20 ( 2 X ) it works pretty well, it obviously vignettes at anything less than full zoom but that is why i bought it ... full zoom i mean.
The canon lens adapter is fairly plasticky, try lensmate, they make a nice brushed ally alloy one which matches the camera better than the canon one
have a look here it may help http://www.lensmateonline.com/g3.html

they come in 52mm or 58mm the 52 is less obtrusive and fits the kenko without any step rings

Good luck

Hi.
I'm looking for a telephoto converter but here in Portugal it's hard to get the Kenko KNT-20 2X converter. I can choose among the Tiffen Megaplus 2X (43 mm) or the Canon TC-DC58N 1.75X (58 mm).
I might buy the canon one, but what do you know about the Tiffen converter.?
Thanks

Best regards
