Default HP 850 + Raynox DCR-1850Pro (test !!!)

I had tried tele lens Raynox DCR-1850Pro (x1.85, 52mm mount) with my HP Photosmart 850 (4 MPix, 37-300mm f2.8-3.1). I used a Kenko tube 55mm-55mm (made for Fuji 4900) and a step-down ring 55mm-52mm to connect the elements.

It's here : http://www.pbase.com/cedric_g/hp850_...nox_dcr1850pro

This lens doesn't work fine with my camera when I use full zoom and full aperture. BUT it's possible to use it without losing image quality and color rendering : I don't use full zoom and full aperture but approx. x6.8 zoom (full zoom minus one level) and f4.2 aperture and result is great (equiv. 460mm !!!)

With full zoom ( x8 ) and middle aperture (between f4.0 and f6.0) it's possible to have good pics but colors are smoothed

With full zoom and full aperture (f3.1) the pics are smoothed, like if you used a filter made for that (it's artistic !!!)

nb. Comments are in french... ops:

Just a remark :

I think Raynox DCR-1540Pro (x1.54) will give bester results but I haven't found it in France when I wanted to buy a lens !

I think I will try Olympus TCON-17 (a friend have bought it for his Olympus C4000...) : to see !

Hi,

I ordered the 1540 from www.bugeyedigital.com I hope to receive it next week, and will let know what the results are.

I was allready shopping for a new camera (need more than 8x zoom) but thanks to you I can stick with the HP which I love for the rest.

Greetings,
Frank

I think I will test DCR-1540Pro (because my brother will probably buy it for his Sony F717, which works perfectly with my DCR-1850Pro !!!) and perhaps we'll exchange them...

To see...

Hi,

Do you know if a standard 55-52 adaptor would work, we are puzzled here because you use a stepdown convertor.

Greetings,
Frank
