:bye:Hi,

This is my first topic to the forum. Please provide me some guidance on whether i can add any lense to my sony DSC-H1 apart from Teleconversion lens? Also, i asked at the sony shop and the vendor told me that i can attach lens without any problem.

I am looking for taking Natural Scenes for which i need lens with a range of 70-300mm. I am not sure whether i can add these kind of lens to the Camera.

Please give me the specifications and company so that i can buy the lens.

range of 70-300mm.

You camera already exceeds that range, its a 36-432mm camera !

You can attach a tcon say a Sony dh1758 (x1.7) to take you to over 734mm or a wcon, or any filter with a 58mm thread.

On the other hand if you mean can you remove the lens and fit a SLR lens then no, the H1 has a fixed lens, you can put filters or tcons/wcons in front of it but thats all.

On the good side of this, a tcon on a dslr robs light by a stop or two , the Sony tcon doesn't or at least not in a measurable way !

Hi, this is my first post too. I have a Sony H1 and I have bought a macro lens attachment for it but what I can achieve with the lens on or off seems to be about the same. I've gone into the menu setup and set the camera to macro lens attachment but it seems to make little difference. What am I doing wrong? The other question is that when I zoom in onto my subject the camera will only focus up to about x2.5 after that it blurs, is that how it should be?

Are you far enough away from the subject? There is a minimum distance you
need to be from your subject to be able to focus, and that distance increases
as you increase the optical zoom. The close-up lenses are really intended to
be used with no zoom.

With the zoom question I'm close up so that would explain it, thanks. The reason I've tried using the zoom is that I just can't seem to magnify my subject as much as I'd like. Without using the zoom my lens is virtually touching the subject yet it seems no more magnified than if the macro lens is not attached. I'll take some photos later with the macro attached and without the macro lens so I can show you what I mean, hope that's okay.

Which lens is it? Perhaps you need to pull back a little bit, like with a handheld magnifying glass, to get better magnification? I dunno - I don't have a close-up lens yet. There's gotta be an answer out there in the interweb...

I have the Sony VCL-M3358 AC Close up lens.

Thanks for the link Sintares, I hadn't seen that paper. It's encouraging to read that with macro shots I'll get lots of blurred pictures, I don't feel like I'm doing too badly now.
