Default TCon -14 versus B300

Hi All,
I'm new here, so bear with me if this has already been discussed.

I have been looking for a B300 for quite awhile, but the prices are out of site. Has anyone had experience with both the B300 and the newer TCon-14? Beside the fact that the b300 is l.7 and the TCon is 1.4, how do they compare in quality?

Any opinions would be appreciated...and thanks in advance....

Default Just My Opinion

Hey, I too looked and looked for the B-300 at a reasonable price, but couldn't find it. I thought I was settling on the TCON-14B, but when I got it, WOW! The glass on this baby is awesome and the photos are super sharp. Just my opinion. I can tell you that I am an amature, but I love the TCON-14B...

Thanks for your opinion...one more question..the TCon does work on the UZ2100, doesn't it? The Olympus site doesn't list the UZ as one of the cameras to use this lens with.

thanks again...

Dianne,
Don't confuse the TCON-14 and TCON-14B here!

You were asking about the TCON-14, but the answering post was about a different lens, the TCON-14B.

My suggestion is to get the TCON-14B - as DeathbyFire said, it's a great lens and yes, it works very well with your camera.

I recently got a Tcon-14b lens and im very happy with it. Its a bit heavy and large but gives great results. Price was 122 Euro (about the same in US dollars).

Im getting a b300 lens as well in about a month (end September). Ordered one in Australia at http://centre.net.au.

It will cost me 417 au$ there including shipping to Europe. If im right from their e-mails they are getting more of them straight from the Olympus factory.
Maybe its of use for u.

Default alternative to B-300 and TCON 14b

You may not be aware of this but there is an alternative teleconverter to the B-300 and TCON 14b. There is also the Olympus A200. (1.5x) These can be purchased new for about $85 from B&H Photo. I have a website with several comparison shots and samples of the A200, the B300, and the C210 teleconverter lenses. Check it out.

Hope this helps!
Thanks,

Nice lens test Amy, gives a good idea on the possibilities for the different lenses. As an amateur it gives me lots of info.

The shaving foam lenscap is nice. I think I prefer that one over the toilet cleaner, hahaha.
Gonna try that for myself.

Like ur site too, I added it to my favorites.

Amy, thanks for the comparison shots of the B-300 with the A200. It will be helpful when I decide to get an add-on telephoto.
