This was the first picture taken with my Canon D5 camera. I know it's not the best but I am learning.

Could anyone tell me why it came out a little fuzzy? Did I crop it too much?

Tony,

I think the whites on the gull are overexposed so there isn't enough information there, and there is some noise in the colored areas, so yes, it may be over-cropped for that particular image. The water looks perfect on the other hand except with some noise. Spot metering instead of matrix might have helped on that ultra white bird.

We're all learning. Birds are so tough I'll hardly even try them.

The histogram of your image is interesting in case you haven't looked at it.

Joe,

Thanks for the feedback. I switched the camera to spot metering and hopefully tomorrow i'll be able to find a gull sitting in the water. I'm fairly new to digital photography and it gets very confusing.
