I was looking through some old photos and came across my childhood cat Puff. This was his everyday "normal" look. He was the first tom cat in the neighborhood and he "owned" it and would fight for every inch. He would disappear in the spring for several weeks, and just as we thought he was not gonna make it back, here he came all beat up. This is a sign of over 10 years of hard living, but he was the most loyal cat I had ever seen!!

Enjoy

What a tribute to Puff. He doesn't look the part of Puff but more like Ruff. He must have been the inspiration for one of the characters in "Cats."

My guess is Puff had a lot of friends too! I had a out door cat like Puff too when I was a child. She would stay out all night and some times I could hear cat fights from my window and wonder how Kitty was. Every morning Kitty made it home. One winter morning she came home with her tail almost cut off. The vet said she was probably sleeping inside a car and the fan caught her tail, very common. She lived a long life until one day she came home for the last time. In her honor I continued to adopt and pick up stray tabby cats, and each was named Kitty. Only difference was I tried to keep them as indoor cats, but the spirit of Kitty must have lived on in them because they insisted on going out!

Even now many years later, I still try to have at least one tabby!

Thanks all for the comments. As Puff got older his territory got smaller and smaller in area, but he would still fight for all of it. It was fun watching him fight with the neighbors cat. They would go at it at least once a month. They would stalk each other for up to an hour, then pounce on one another, fight for a few seconds and it was all over!
