Default Merlin (aka Pigeon Hawk) at ~2000mm

I must say I was lucky today that this female Merlin was patient enough to allow me some time to take shots of it. I used my Oly E-3 and a scope set to about 1000mm (which of course translates to about 2000mm on a 4/3 sensor in 35mm equivalent speak). Enjoy!

BinaryGraphite,

Well, you're a lucky man. Did your hands shake when you saw it. Mine would have You might also want to post them at the wildlife section

Ha! That's why I stuck to using a tripod.

Apparently they can get quite aggressive when they are nesting.

And thanks for your PM. Indeed the Merlin is a falcon, not hawk; pigeon hawk is, as Wiki puts it, "an old colloquial name" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merlin_%28bird%29).
